Before getting into today's events, I want to give you all the details for a few fun things we have planned during our time in Toronto.
The 28th is going to be a big day for us. In the morning we'll be visiting the rehab centre at the Toronto Western Hospital, which is where I went through their rehab program after my surgery. We'll be making a brief presentation in the hospital atrium at 11:10 and then participating in a warm up outside the Dundas entrance shortly afterwards.
Later in the day we'll be participating in a rally for the "Ride for Rehab" at the Toronto Rehab Institute at 347 Rumsey Road at 2:00pm. There will be a few big announcements and a number of presentations will be made. Anyone who wants to come out for either of these events is welcome and we would love to have you there.
Back to the task at hand, it is absolutely surreal to be so close to home that street names and places are becoming familiar. The ground we covered today could have been part of a day ride from home. The idea that tomorrow night we'll be back in Toronto after riding over fifty days from Vancouver is something that is a bit hard to grasp. Especially given that in another few days we'll be heading out of the city again to continue east.
I should clarify that along with my father and brother in-law, my mother came along as a cheerleader for our ride yesterday from Owen Sound. Once again, so strange to be so close that a visit like that was possible.
Today was a surprisingly fun ride, but not one I would necessarily recommend. Southern Ontario has some beautiful landscape, but when you ride primarily on highways with questionable curbs they can be hard to enjoy. We flew through the seventy-five kilometers we covered today, but really had to focus on the conditions of the road and the traffic moving around us.
Tonight we're resting up and looking forward to a visit with a cardiac rehab class tomorrow morning led through the Southlake Regional Health Centre. We would also like to thank Terry Fair for organizing our visit to Newmarket. Terry we're looking forward to meeting you tomorrow morning!
